It must suck to be a senseless Palestinian youngster. It must suck even more when you are within the range of a murderous, occupying Israeli tank. Yes, Israeli’s regularly shoot at kids. Watch this round come whizzing by. Chilling.
| Waving at a Tank is a Really Really Bad Idea |
| No one should be surprised. It’s pretty much the only way a tank can say hi back. |
Dude, I stumbled this and had to post it. This chick brings it.

It’s called “The Story of Stuff”, and is a very well laid out video narrative about our linear-consumption economy. I think this is one of the most approachable well put together overviews of a very complex problem we face.
Here is an interesting article in the Wall Street Journal describing a “Most Praised Generation”. In this article, they brilliantly describe how parenting in the last 30+ years has been exceedingly lovey-dovey with constant arbitrary praise of even the least capable under-achievements. While you and I can not likely find much flaw in more soft-handed , encouragement-focused parenting, the young workforce is proving its long term effect.
The young workforce are a bunch of “poor me” pansies, and require constant praise and admiration for even showing up to work. Having worked and managed in a young-workforce environment, I can attest to this. And I cannot separate myself entirely from this group. I recall an old phrase “Spare the rod, spoil the child”. I think that old saying has great wisdom, and lies closely at the root of the trend discussed in this article. My own interpretation would propose:
As parents beat the snot out of their kids less, the kids get all soft, and turn into a bunch of whiny bastards.
It reminds me of an insightful South Park snippet I once saw about ADD. I am convinced that a great deal (not all) of this disorder is likely just shitty soft-parenting. I know a lot of elementary school teachers who would strongly disagree (and likely slap me for the notion). But we have a great history of inventing “diseases” to escape behavioral blame. If you do stupid shit, make a disease out of it.
